Bonnie Martyn (Allan)

Bonnie Martyn (Allan)

Painting is a pleasure for me and gives me a sense of accomplishment and self-fulfilment. I love pure colour and paint both representational and abstract styles presently.

Bonnie was born in Saskatoon and remained there until graduating from University in Nursing (Teaching and Supervision). Bonnie worked in nursing in Montreal, Nanaimo, Calgary, and in Germany with the Canadian Military.

Bonnie's parents were gifted with paintings from the Saskatoon Mendel Art Gallery by Fred Mendel, much to our delight. Included in these painting is an oil painting by Saskatchewan landscape artist Dorothy Knowles. Her depictions of the prairies in both watercolours and oils have been an inspiration to me and many others.

Bonnie enjoys painting in different styles which keeps her challenged as well as fascinated in exploring new ideas. She uses mixed media including watercolours, acrylics, inks and collage. Attending demonstrations, workshops, and galleries as well as exploring art literature has encouraged Bonnie to expand her technical skills and curiosity of making art. She has been able to travel extensively enjoying galleries and artist work in England, France, Germany, Holland, Spain, Italy, and Africa.

Bonnie displays her art through Calgary Community Painters Society shows as well as privately through personal contacts. She has paintings in private collections in Montreal, Saskatoon, Calgary and Victoria.
